2018 Licensing – Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have an Aqua Data Studio license key that is current under maintenance. Will the new 2018 licensing terms affect my license?
A: No. As long as you keep this license current, the new terms will not affect you.
Q: I have an Aqua Data Studio license key that I bought prior to May 1, 2018 and is current under maintenance. I planned to let that maintenance lapse. Will this affect my access to Aqua Data Studio?
A: No. Your license agreement (signed prior to May, 1, 2018) grants you a perpetual license. However, if you let the maintenance lapse, you will lose access to support and any future product versions or patch releases. If you ever decide to ‘renew’ that lapsed maintenance contract, this will not be possible after May 1, 2018. After this date, we will no longer support the renewal of perpetual licenses whose maintenance contracts have previously expired.
Q: I have several Aqua Data Studio license keys that are current under maintenance. I don’t know if I will need more keys after May 1, 2018, but if I do, will I be able to extend my license agreement to purchase any additional keys?
A: No. Any Aqua Data Studio license keys purchased on or after May 1, 2018 will be subject to the license terms current at the time of purchase.
Q: So, if I have Aqua Data Studio licenses now and make a purchase on or after May 1, 2018, I will have two different license agreements with AquaFold?
Q: I have an Aqua Data Studio license key that is no longer current under maintenance. If I decide to renew that key on or after May 1, 2018, can I renew under my original license agreement terms?
A: No. Your renewal will be subject to the license terms current at the time of your renewal.
Q: I know I am going to need more licenses soon. Can I pre-buy licenses before May 1, 2018 and have my original license terms apply?
A: Yes. As long as you purchase prior to May 1, 2018.
