In order to keep our pricing ultra competitive while delivering industry-leading customer service and product features, we are changing our Aqua Data Studio license types and terms on May 1, 2018.

License Types

Existing license types are being phased out and replaced with new license types; this is independent of the license terms.

The new license types will be applied to ALL current customers upon the next renewal as well as any license purchases after May 1, 2018.

Old License Types

Single License Key Per User Enterprise License Key WAN IP License Key
  • Individual, unique license key.
  • Single user may install on as many as 2 machines simultaneously with any combination of supported operating systems, but only 1 instance may be used at a time.
  • Requires the execution of an End User License Agreement (EULA).
  • A single key for a set number of seats with controlled end user authorization.
  • Each user uses the same license key and that license key is bound to WAN IP address for activation.
  • Activation and deactivation of users is done through authorization management in the customer portal by an assigned license manager within the purchasing organization.
  • Requires the execution of an End User License Agreement (EULA).
  • A single key for a set number of seats where advanced user authorization is not required.
  • Each user uses the same license key and that license key is bound to WAN IP address for activation.
  • Activation and deactivation of users is not managed through a customer portal. Any user can activate from within the WAN IP address.
  • Bi-yearly (at most) or yearly (at-least) true-up for reconciliation of user count overage.
  • Requires the execution of an Enterprise License Agreement (ELA).

New License Types

  • Available for groups over 50 users/seats.
  • Each user uses the same license key and that license key is bound to WAN IP address for activation.
  • Activation and deactivation of users is done through authorization management in the customer portal by an assigned license manager within the purchasing organization.
  • New license terms apply for new license purchases and seat/user expansions.
  • A single key for a set number of seats where advanced user authorization is not required.
  • Available for groups over 300 users/seats.
  • Each user uses the same license key and that license key is bound to WAN IP address for activation.
  • Activation and deactivation of users is not managed through a customer portal. Any user can activate from within the WAN IP address.
  • Quarterly true-up for reconciliation of user count overage.
  • New license terms apply for new license purchases and seat/user expansions.

License Terms

New license terms will apply to all new license purchases and seat/user expansions made on or after May 1, 2018. New license terms will NOT APPLY to accounts that are current on maintenance contracts. If a license key falls out of current maintenance, new license terms will apply upon renewal.

Grandfathered License Terms New License Terms

 

Any license agreement signed prior to May 1, 2018 will be honored as signed. You can continue to renew your maintenance before your yearly expiry date, and your terms will be unaffected.* If you hold a license that is NOT under a current maintenance contract, you must renew before May 1, 2018 to take advantage of grandfathered license terms.**

 

 

New license terms are in effect May 1, 2018 and will reflect a yearly subscription requirement. All new licenses or seat/user expansions made on or after May 1, 2018 will be subject to new license terms.***

 

* On or after May 1, 2018, all licenses whose maintenance contract is not renewed before the expiry date, and are renewed thereafter, will be subject to new license terms.

** If a license key falls outside a current maintenance contract (aka expired) and is not renewed before May 1, 2018, the prior license agreement is null and renewal will be subject to new license terms.

*** Accounts who hold a current maintenance contract on a grandfathered license agreement (one signed prior to May 1, 2018) who purchase additional licenses or users/seats on or after May 1, 2018, will have 2 license agreements with different terms.
